职位介绍

The internship positions are located in the Chinese Translation Service, Documentation Division, Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York. The internship is for two (2) months from 1 July 2019 to 31 August 2019, with a possibility of extension, subject to the needs of the Department. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of the Chief of the Translation Section/Service or the internship supervisor, as appropriate. Candidates are encouraged to highlight their specific skills and/or experience in their application. They are asked to do so carefully in order to enhance the value of the internship for both themselves and the receiving Service.

Interns will be responsible for the following duties:

(a) translating into Chinese, which must be the candidates' main language, documents from one or more of the other official languages of the United Nations for training and other purposes and subject to review. The official languages are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish;

(b) performing other related duties as required, including editing, terminological work, creation of translation memories.

学历专业要求

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);

- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or

- Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation from an academic programme.

Applicants who are unable to commence the internship within one year of graduation shall not be accepted.

语言要求

Complete mastery of the candidate’s main language (Chinese) and excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of a third official language would be an asset. The official languages of the United Nations are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

考核方式

Candidates will be assessed based on their Personal History Profile (PHP). Individual interviews and/or tests may be conducted for further assessment.

The Cover Note must (i) include the name of your degree programme (What are you currently studying?) and your graduation date (When will you graduate or when did you graduate from the programme?); (ii) list the IT skills and programmes that you are proficient in; and (iii) explain your interest in the United Nations Internship Programme and why you are the best candidate for this specific internship.
