UNDP China is programming in line with the UNDP corporateStrategic Plan. Results-based management (RBM) is integrated across allUNDP-supported programmes and projects through the Integrated Results andResources Framework (IRRF) derived from the Strategic Plan. The Monitoring andEvaluation (M&E) contributes to UNDP’s commitment to deliver high qualityprogrammes underpinned by stronger RBM. The M&E Unit, as the overarchingsupportive role, is responsible for delivering results in a fast, efficient,and transparent way.
Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Country Director (DCD)and supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of UNDP China, theM&E intern will be dedicated to the office-wide M&E functions: monitoringand evaluating UNDP projects in China, and providing supports to other teamsand project units. With the help of the M&E Unit, project managers andinstitutions shall keep their projects on track, and mitigate disagreement andpotential risks.
The M&E intern is expected to assist DCD and M&E Officerin the following key fields.
Monitoring overall projectimplementation with respect to progress and updates of projects, delivery,project objectives, outputs and indicators.
Analyzing the quantitative dataand qualitative information to evaluate the performance of each portfolio.
Preparing monthly, quarterly, andannual reports on the project progress of UNDP China.
Reviewing and providing qualityassurance of Project Document, work plans, financing agreements, and ensuring thecompliance with the Strategic Plan and UNDP pertinent policies.
Ensuring timely submission ofproject annual work plans, quarterly reports, annual reports, etc. fromimplementing partners and PMOs.
Managing all documentations andfolders along the project implementation process of UNDP China.
Providing secretariat andcoordination support of programme meetings, project steering and appraisalmeetings and other M&E related activities.
Performing other work duties.
Thoroughness in accomplishing atask while paying sufficient attention to details to ensure work is timely anderror-freely delivered.
Strong commitment andaccountability in work and continuous improvement as a self-starter.
Strong inter-personal,negotiation and liaison skills. Ability to work as part of a team, sharinginformation and coordinating efforts within the team.
Required Skillsand Experience
Enrolled in a bachelor’s degreeprogram, preferably with major in Social Sciences, Accounting, Economics,Statistics, Management or a related field. Advanced University degree is anasset.
Experience in program evaluation,project monitoring, or financial auditing would be an advantage.
Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills in English and Mandarin.
Advanced knowledge of MicrosoftOffice software package (MS Excel, Word etc.) and web management system.
